WELSH TRIO OF GIRLS PRODUCE STUNNING RESULTS AT THIS YEAR'S BRITISH TAEKWONDO NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS
This September witnessed the amalgamation of hard work, determination and a sprinkling of pure Welsh pride. Our ambitious trio battled relentlessly through their divisions all pulling off stunning performances securing three podium positions in Manchester.
Chloe Haslett found herself facing Great Britain's seeded number one in the semi finals. After a well matched two rounds, Chole was pipped at the post with a well timed headshot in the last few final moments. A bout of disappointment for the youngster from Abergavenny but a well earned bronze medal and more valuable mat experience for future development.
Next up, sixteen year old Maddie Davies, took a comfortable win in her quarter finals resulting in a re-match with GB number 2 seed. Maddie put in a great performance causing match stoppage which sent her comfortably into the finals. Not to make things easier, Maddie faced GB's number 1 seed but was unfortunately out gunned on skill and experience ending the day with a silver.
Going into the -53kg as the number 1 seed, Sarah made an advantageous start straight into the semi-finals sailing through her first match causing a stoppage. In the finals, she faced a well matched player only to be defeated due to a few moments of lack of focus coming away with another silver for the team.
Our Taekwondo Cymru players firmly put Wales back on the national radar in British Olympic style taekwondo proving they have what it takes to be up there with the best of them. Their next step will be a development analysis under Welsh Elite Performance Director, Master Porl Stone.
